The Crimson Cowl Comic Club Podcast
The Crimson Cowl Comic Club first formed at the opening of Crimson Cowl Comics and Collectibles, a comic book store in West Bend, WI, on August 6, 2016. A tight community had quickly formed, and they would meet at the store every Saturday to talk about whatever comics they had read that week. Soon after, they started recording the meetings and releasing them as a weekly podcast. Although the store itself was a COVID casualty, the club lives on. Post COVID, they usually meet on the internet, via ZOOM, and still have great conversations (sometimes with guests) about comics. The Crimson Cowl Comic Club Podcast can be found on Podomatic and iTunes, as well as anywhere great podcasts can be found. Video versions an also be found on YouTube.
Under The Cowl
Realizing there were a lot of great conversations before and after recording sessions of the Crimson Cowl Comic Club Podcast, one of the store’s owners, David Gloyd, decided to start Under The Cowl as a second podcast that would share all the conversations the comic club had that did not fall into the format of the Crimson Cowl Comic Club Podcast. Under The Cowl was first posted February 23, 2019. Some episodes featured the club’s unrelated conversations, while others were recorded conversations while hanging out in the shop after the new comic book day crowd dissipated on Wednesday nights. The podcast can be found on Spotify and iTunes. Post COVID closure of the store, Under The Cowl became more infrequent ZOOM meetings after the club recordings, and formatting switched from podcasts to YouTube videos. While the show has been on hiatus, it will continue.
